Welcome to
Flying Fifteen International - Victoria
Winter Sailing for Fifteens
Royal Winter Series finished last Sunday with consistent numbers over the four week series, which was enjoyed by all participating, and the weather-man providing great weather each fortnight. The series came down to the wire, going into the last race of the series with Slyghtly Ffirmer and Supertoy Plays On (STPO) on equal points, tussled it out until the last leg, where STPO gave it away and class Presidento, David Williamson with crew Peter Milne and Gavin Dagley took out the series from Brian Carroll and crew Craig Ginnivan and Mike Brown. One point was all it took, and it shows a consistent eight weeks of the most sailing done by David over many years can be a 'winner'!
Reagon Burdon-Bear and Les Kearney in Classic boat, Affrodite sailed a fantastic series taking out third overall, amongst the 12 heats they had two first placings, so well done guys! They also took out the yardstick award.
Dale Collings and Glenn Scheen won the day in Aussie Falcon with two bullets and a third, finding their feet and speed finally! Thanks to David LeRoy, Royals race Officer for yet again another great series; the catering staff for providing the well-deserved snacks each week with the assistance of Lisa Deppeler, Peter Milne and Dale Collings. And not-to-mention the guys travelling from Latrobe Valley and South Gippsland to show their support, hopefully this will be a great association of event involvement now they have two Fifteens at Latrobe Valley.

Mordialloc Winter Series commences first week of August running every Sunday through until end of September, racing at 1300hours.
Coming out from the Winter series you should be well on the way to be ready for the ACT State Championships over their Labour Day long weekend; 2 and 3 October 2010. It is always a great event with fabulous camaraderie and hospitality by the Canberrians. Let us arrive in droves on the mission to take away their silverware as they did with our States. NOR has been posted on the Canberra Yacht Club website Monday 5 July http://www.canberrayachtclub.com.au/documents/FF-ACT_NOR_2010.pdf. This will be an excellent training series on the same waters at this year's upcoming Australian Championships in January 2011.
Membership renewals are now due, if you have changed your address and haven't received them to date please contact the Secretary. In return you will receive a small gift from the association as a token of our appreciation.
2010-2011 Sailing Calendar is currently been finalised by the new committee
Stay tuned.
Why not buy a Flying Fifteen and join in the fun!
You may ask what is a Flying Fifteen?
- Is it a dinghy with a keel?
- Is it the most fun two people can have on a three-sail reach?
- Is it the only logical step when you're tired of capsizing dinghies?
- Is it the least expensive performance keel boat around?
- Is it the largest one-design keel boat fleet in the world?
It is all these things and More!
From the Bay to Bass Strait, and on a variety of lakes, you'll find Flying Fifteens all over Victoria.
The Uffa Fox designed Flying Fifteen is sailed at numerous clubs around Victoria, with five locations around Port Phillip and several country areas. Over fifty boats sail regularly.
